Book VII: The Eternal Peace

Book VII: The Eternal Peace

Chapter Twenty-Seven – The Last Council of Fire

In his twilight years, Richard Baratheon, Emperor of Westeros and Essos, summoned his children to the Red Keep. Caesarion, aged but still mighty, slumbered in the Dragonpit, while younger dragons filled the skies above King’s Landing.

The princes and princesses gathered: Daemon the bold, Elaena the wise, Aegor the fiery, Rhaella the merciful, Rhaegon the learned, Duncan the stormy, Rhaenrya the graceful, and Alysanne the sharp-tongued.

Richard’s voice, though aged, carried the weight of storms:
“My reign is but a chapter. Yours shall be the book. Promise me this—no crown, no dragon, no ambition shall ever break the bond of blood between you. For if you are united, the empire shall endure until the stars burn out.”

And for the first time since their childhood, the siblings clasped hands, swearing to honour their father’s legacy.

Chapter Twenty-Eight – The Heir of the Dragon-Stag

Richard declared before the Imperial Council that Prince Daemon Baratheon, his firstborn, would succeed him as Emperor, with Princess Elaena as his Hand and chief advisor.

Aegor, once jealous, stepped forward and bent the knee before his brother. “I am the sword at your side, not your rival,” he said, and Daemon embraced him before the gathered lords.

Thus, the rivalry that once threatened to plunge the realm into war ended in reconciliation. United by their father’s wisdom, the children of Richard and Daenerys became not rivals, but pillars of the empire.

Chapter Twenty-Nine – The Passing of the Storm Dragon

In the fiftieth year of his reign, Richard Baratheon took his final flight upon Caesarion. The great golden dreadlord, older than any dragon before him, carried his rider high above the Narrow Sea.

When they returned, both dragon and rider were weary. Richard laid aside his warhammer, kissed Daenerys’s hand, and passed peacefully in his sleep, the storm within him finally calmed.

The bells of King’s Landing tolled for seven days. From Winterfell to Old Volantis, from Dorne to Braavos, men and women wept, for the Storm Dragon was gone.

But his empire endured.

Chapter Thirty – The Golden Concord

Under Emperor Daemon I, guided by his sister Elaena, the empire flourished. Aegor became Lord Marshal, leading armies not in conquest, but in defence of peace. Rhaella became High Septa, binding the Faith of the Seven to the imperial crown. Rhaegon, master of Valyria, uncovered lost secrets that enriched the realm. Duncan, bold as ever, became Warden of the Stepstones, keeping trade safe. Rhaenrya and Alysanne together ruled the court, binding noble houses through marriage and diplomacy.

The siblings ruled not as rivals, but as one. The people called them The Eight Flames, the living legacy of Richard and Daenerys.

Chapter Thirty-One – The Eternal Empire

For generations, Richard’s bloodline ruled, dragons soaring over both Westeros and Essos. Wars faded, trade thrived, and the scars of old rebellions healed. The Free Cities became provinces of prosperity, the North remained steadfast, and even the Ironborn found peace under imperial law.

The maesters wrote of this era as The Everlasting Peace, the age where fire and storm did not burn the world, but warmed it.

And in every hall, from Winterfell to Valyria, men spoke the same words:
“Richard Baratheon, the Storm Dragon, was more than a conqueror. He was the builder of peace. His children were his legacy, and his empire eternal.”
